"It is rare to find someone with both Dave's extensive knowledge AND the ability to teach kids in a manner they can understand and relate to. Dave and Boo are the best!"Joe Duffy, Parent

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you at "The Crease" for your dedication and great instruction for our boys and especially our goalies Oliver Jacobs and Andrew Tucci. They have learned so much and enjoyed the instructors they had this year. We look forward to working with you next season."Mary Tucci
THE CREASE GOALTENDING ACADEMY
Training Rink

It is no secret that the game has changed over the years, it is now faster, the players are more creative and they shoot the puck a lot harder and faster. Goaltending has also evolved. In the NHL today, there are many styles of goaltending and at THE CREASE GOALTENDING ACADEMY (TCGA) we do not try to change a goalies style, we use a multi dimensional approach to goaltending; consider it a fusion of old school fundamentals combined with new age movements.  Our instructors will systematically break down each skill you learn into components and follow this by proper demonstration, proper instruction and repetition. Our unique and innovative style of teaching emphasizes positive reinforce and encouragement in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. After getting down the foundation of goaltending we will examine and develop your strengths and weaknesses, we then will ensure you that we will push your goaltender to reach their peak performance level. With a low student to instructor ratio, experienced instructors and strong fundamental skill development, we emphasize the importance of intense training both mentally and physically.

TCGA philosophy is simple; we try not to complicate the position as much possible. A goalies mission is to minimize the number of goals allowed by utilizing strong skating, strong angles, strong technique and strong rebound control. All of these components will be used in every lesson at TCGA.

Strong Skating
Critical for goaltenders of all levels because it allows them to get into better position earlier, thus being more ready for the shot. This is goalie specific skating!

Strong Angles
Critical for goaltenders of all levels because it allows them to make smaller movements and cover more net, thus giving the shooter less net to score.

Strong Technique
Critical for goaltenders of all levels because it allows them to make saves without having pucks go through your body and with better balance, which allows for better recovery.

Strong Rebound Control
Critical for goaltenders of all levels because it allows them to make the initial save only and not have to worry about second and third opportunities as often as a goalie with poor rebound control.
